![]() ![]() I'm one of those who are too young to have known TOS when it was current, and discovered the whole franchise about fifteen years ago with TNG + DS9 + Voyager and, later on, Enterprise. TNG season 1 was kind of a shit show, so I'm hoping DSC season 2 is better.Īlthough this article and the previous one raised some very intersting points and I can't deny some of the criticism (Sarek being out of character, especially), I'm not convinced with the artificial dichotomy between "formalists" and "realists", especially when based on TOS. The Klingon war ends with L'rell brandishing a detonator. ![]() They can control the mycelial network no problem. Instead we get one scene in the cave and one scene on the ship, and just like that the ENTIRE PLOT OF THE ENTIRE SEASON gets resolved.īy and large I enjoyed some of the episodes, but too many things beggar belief even in the context of sci-fi. They could have spent one entire episode on this. And then we get 60 seconds of L'rell going "y'all motherfuckers need to pay attention now" and boom, peace in the Galaxy. The entire season is about the Klingon war. The worst part, though, was we had 15 episodes with the worst existential threat to the federation, Klingons hell bent on annihilation, all divided and headstrong like Klingons can be. I never liked this Sarek, and the last episode really did it for me. So yeah Discovery had a lot of rough patches but the frame is there for a good show, assuming CBS gives it a chance to breath and grow.Ĭlick to expand.Sarek being all mushy and emotional was awful. Season four were it started to approach mediocre.Įven going back to The Original Series most of the truly great episodes come from season two and three. More of the same, first three seasons were forgettable, it only with season four that it started to get decent (I wont use good for Voyager).Įnterprise? Oh my. Again season three and four were where it took off and six/seven where it reached it's heights (In the Pale Moon Light!). It didn't start to get good until the three parter at the end of the season and again season two was only decent. It wasn't until the later half of season two that it actually started to get good and season three when it was consistently good.ĭeep Space Nine season one? Utterly awful. Look at TNG, the first season was terrible with perhaps three good episodes. Apart from the original series I've watched every single Star Trek show as it aired for the first and there is one universal rule for the series (well two really, there is also the one about odd numbered movies sucking harder than vacuum) and it is that the first season is always rough. It was always going to be mediocre at best. It's the first season of a Star Trek show. ![]()
